Allergy & Asthma
At Horizon Primary Care, and our affiliate health and research centers, we have extensive knowledge about allergy and asthma related health, and are on the forefront of research in this area.
Allergies are more than sneezing, itching, or watery eyes. They are a hypersensitivity of the immune system, causing allergic reactions to normally harmless environmental substances like dust, pollen, mold, pollution and many others.
The role of allergies in the immune system
When you have an allergy, your immune system is activated. But the allergy may cause the immune system to become over-activated in various body systems. We believe that a non-regulated allergy can lead the immune system in the wrong direction, towards asthma or worse, autoimmune disease.
Our philosophy revolves around the belief that early diagnosis and smart intervention using an integrated treatment approach can stop the progression of allergies to more serious disorders like asthma, autoimmune and immune-related diseases. For example, diagnosing the cause of a toddler’s eczema can prevent rhinitis, allergies and ultimately asthma as they get older.
